Segment 1: Asian American's political impact in the U.S.

As America becomes more diversified and in some locations, the majority becomes just another minority, understanding what's important in the minds of minority voters becomes crucial in order to maintain and build their loyalties. Asian Americans are the fastest-growing population in the nation. Between 1990 and 2000, the Asian American population grew by 48.3 percent, more than three times the growth rate of 13.2 percent for the total national population. The increase in social awareness, combined with strength in numbers, has changed the political scene in many states. Even though Asian-Americans make up just 4 percent of the U.S. population, in a close race, whose result is decided by a small margin, Asian Americans can play an important role.
